Samhain- All Saints, All Souls

🍂Samhain- All Saints, All Souls🕯️

📅When: October 30th 2026 🕙 @7.00PM-9.00PM

ancient festival of Samhain.

Samhain, a threshold moment, is traditionally the beginning of the Celtic year- end of the old and the beginning of a whole new cycle. It is a good time to ask at which threshold am I now standing.

The feast of Samhain is an invitation to deepen our inner journey as we move into the darkest time of the year.

Description: Join us for a fascinating evening as we step back in time to explore our community just a few years after independence. On census night, 18 April 1926, the population of the Irish Free State stood at 2,971,992. This first official census offers us a wonderful, unique snapshot of Irish society during a time of great change.

Each household return from that night tells a personal story. The records preserve the names, ages, relationships, and occupations of ordinary people living across the country. Remarkably, these documents often reveal exactly where people worked and who their employers were, giving us a rare and valuable insight into the daily life of our local neighborhoods a century ago.

Description: Celebrate 100 Years of Stories with Kildare Library Service 📖

This year marks a truly special milestone—the 100th anniversary of Kildare Library Service. To celebrate a century of keeping our local history alive, we are hosting an evening dedicated to gathering and recording the unique legends, tales, and memories that shape our community.

Every community relies on its storytellers, but too many local pieces of history slip away simply because they aren't written down or spoken aloud. This Heritage Week, we want to change that. We are opening our doors to safeguard these precious fragments of our identity before they are lost to time.
