What: The talk explores the deep-rooted cultural belief in the otherworldly. In traditional Irish culture, the sióga were not cute, winged Disney characters, but powerful, complex beings shared through generations of oral history.

Description: Hosted by the Cill Dara Historical Society, the evening features renowned Irish storyteller and visual artist Steve Lally. He will delve into the magical world of the sióga (the fairies) and the rich oral folklore traditions specific to County Kildare

The speaker, Steve Lally, moved to the Kildare countryside as a child and spent his life immersed in monster stories, local ghosts, and Lilywhite legends. His talk will weave together historical folklore and personal artistic interpretations of how these fairy traditions shaped rural life, protecting old monuments, raths, and fairy hawthorn trees across the county.
