Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel – Presented by Thurles Drama Group

Kildare 67th Drama Festival presents Dancing at Lughnasa.
Date: 9 March | Time: 8pm | Venue: CMWS Hall

Thurles Drama Group brings Brian Friel’s beloved classic Dancing at Lughnasa to Kildare as part of the 2026 Amateur Drama Festival circuit. Directed by Margaret McCormack, this beautifully crafted production recently completed its local run at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles before beginning its festival tour.

Set in rural Donegal in 1936, this powerful “memory play” follows the five Mundy sisters—Kate, Maggie, Agnes, Rose and Christina—as they navigate family life, love, loss and changing times. Full of warmth, humour and poignancy, Dancing at Lughnasa is a timeless story that continues to resonate with audiences.
